Association of Women in Mining South Africa (AWIMSA) is a national organisation dedicated to empowering women across the mining value chain through education, innovation, and digital transformation.
We believe that the future of mining is inclusive, sustainable, and driven by technology. Our work focuses on preparing women to take their rightful place in the Fourth Industrial Revolution by giving them access to learning opportunities, mentorship, and community-based programmes that promote growth and leadership.
Through partnerships with the University of Johannesburg, Leica-Geosystems, Hexagon, and Matrix Design Africa, we are ensuring that women are not left behind in this new era of mining. These collaborations provide accredited training, mentorship, and access to technology that equips women with the skills they need to thrive.
Beyond professional training, AWIMSA is also investing in community outreach. Through programmes such as smart farming, digital literacy, and innovation hubs, we are introducing technology to rural and mining-affected areas so that communities can participate fully in South Africa’s digital economy.
