Our Founder
Mamosa Modise is the Founder and President of the Association of Women in Mining South Africa. She is a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, leadership development, and technological inclusion.
With years of experience in the mining industry, Mamosa has witnessed first-hand the challenges faced by women in accessing opportunities. Her response has been to build an organisation that not only supports women but actively creates spaces where they can learn, connect, and lead.
Under her leadership, AWIMSA has formed strong partnerships with the University of Johannesburg, Leica-Geosystems, Hexagon, and Matrix Design Africa. These collaborations have enabled the creation of short learning programmes, bursary initiatives, and innovation projects that prepare women for careers in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Her vision is to ensure that women are not passive participants but active contributors in shaping the technological future of mining in South Africa and across the continent.
